Communications In 1994, Intibuca had no electricity and telegraph using batteries was the communication of choice. By 2000, electricity was expanding in the area but our only communication with our staff was by expensive satellite phone that worked some days. In order to grow, it was obvious that a more advanced communication system was needed. Now we have 6 high speed satellite internet systems connecting our clinics with each other and with the US. This enables us to communicate instantly with our staff and provides an immense resource for them. The first week the internet was connected, our doctors were able to quickly research and treat a patient who was overcome by poison nerve gas used to kill rats in the corn piles.
Phospine Nerve Gas Our doctors in Santa Lucia can now communicate with our nurses in the outlying clinics on days when the doctor is not there. Typical Satellite dish used for Internet
