Shoulder to Shoulder

Helping the poor in rural Honduras

The Roy & Melanie Sanders Frontera Medical Center

Shoulder to Shoulder's stategic vision includes:

Basic primary care services, including preventive services should be available within a one hour walk for 90% of the population.

24 hour emergency services provided by well trained physicians, comprehensive obstetrical services and restorative dentistry should be available within a one hour drive for 90% of the population.

At least 90% of all households should have clean water

At least 90% of all households should have smoke free, well ventilated stoves

Motivated, capable students from poor families should have equal access to education beyond the 6th grade, regardless of their ability to pay

All children, but especially children under two whose neuro-cognitive development is most at risk, should have adequate nutrition through evidence based nutritional supplementation and education.

Honduran local laborers have build the clinic. US electricians and construction crews have worked with the Hondurans in areas they are not familiar.

We need all type of volunteers for completion of the clinic and support buildings. We have groups traveling to Honduras starting in Oct, 2008. We need skilled and unskilled workers to do electrical, carpentry, and general construction jobs. Please contact Art Ranz for more info. Come with us for a hard working and fulfilling experience helping the people of Honduras.
