Fundraising Success

Our participation in the week-long Little by Little campaign has successfully come to an end. Thanks to you, we were able to hatch more hope for families like those whose story we shared – twins, Rosa and Daisy and working mother, Lucia and her children.

You helped donate $960 and thanks to GlobalGiving’s matching we received $330, bringing us to a grand total of $1,290!

Their families continue being among the first to show up for our wellness checked and egg distributions. Within the context of the community, this small action means a lot. That is why we advocate for each egg that we give – because not only are eggs packed with nutrition, but also a story of resilience.

We appreciate you believing in our work and the importance of our program in participants’ lives. Shoulder to Shoulder thanks generous donors, like you, who join our efforts.

With gratitude,

Mariela Rodriguez

Our Team is Back From Geneva

After two days of travelling back to Honduras and recovering from jetlag, our FIRST Global team is basking in the great competition that they underwent in Geneva. As many of our students have never even travelled outside of our department, the new environment, the stress, and the excitement put our students’ focus to the test – and even our mentors’. Even so, their motivation to excel ignited their minds.

When our robot experienced some hiccups, the team quickly used their skills to modify “Richard” and continue fighting on the playing field. Our mentors Alan, Alexis, Henglyns, Nora and Minsis all were there remind our students that while winning is our objective, there is so much learning and growing that happens along the way.

Our team received, once more, the FIRST Global award in safety, given to teams that exemplify safety standards on the field and in their pits. And secured spot #6 in America and #2 in Central America!

A donation to our program means you continue to believe in our students, STEM education, their potential and how far it can make them fly!

We are grateful to all the support from our Shoulder to Shoulder team, from donors – both US and Honduran, and from local Honduran government.

Hens Hatching Hope

Hens Hatching Hope

Shoulder to Shoulder is thrilled to announce that we were chosen as GlobalGiving’s October 2021 PROJECT OF THE MONTH for our Hens Hatching Hope: Un Huevo Cada Dia program! Our work in providing micro-loans to women so that they can raise hens was selected from a pool of more than 5,000 nonprofit projects in 170+ countries. Nearly 3,000 donors come together and make monthly donations to keep the Project of the Month going.

This extra support means the world to us—and to the community in Intibucá, Honduras. Over the course of the next year, we’ll use these additional funds to expand our network of small women-run hens and eggs businesses.  Our goal is two-fold:  (1) to increase the current 25 hen-hatching businesses to 30 and (2) to provide an egg a day to 400 children, from our current 300 children.

We can’t thank you enough for your continued compassion and generosity.

With gratitude,

Laura Manship
